Opened in the 1950's by the original "Elena" and operated continuously since 1980 by Gloria Whiting, whose special qualities enhance it even more, it has maintained its well-deserved reputation for delicious fresh food, friendly service, and its beautiful and romantic setting.

A friendly and talented staff have helped to create the warm atmosphere of Chez Elena. Jesse and Carlos wear the demeanor born of experienced professionalism and loyalty that welcomes all guests. While Chef Isabel is busy preparing the tasty plates that will be served to you, Jesse and Carlos are eager to serve and help you select that special wine for your meal!	Everyone enjoys our famous coffee drink, prepared tableside, called "Café Mulato!" The Cochinita Pibil among a venue of favorites, is always a delight for the more adventuresome palates. In pre-Columbian times, pibes were stone-lined pits and the cochinitas were the little piglets cooked in them. Originated in the Yucatan, this savory pork dish, with a red onion and achiote chili sauce, is served with camote (sweet portatoes) and black beans on a banana leaf. Seafood, chicken, beef, pork and several regional Mexican dishes are also on this small but well chosen menu. There is a price and selection for everyone.
	The atmosphere here is undeniably romantic with its twinkling lights, flickering candles and intimate setting. Consistently acclaimed for its scrupulous attention to freshness and unobtrusive professional service, the menu is nicely balanced between international and Mexican specialties.
